Why Does Holy Silence Exist?

Holy Silence is about a journey with and into God through the mystical tradition of prayer in Eastern Christianity.

The practice of hesychasm, as it is known in the Orthodox Church, is about acquiring an inner stillness by seeking silence and praying the Jesus Prayer:

"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner."

Devotees of this tradition recognize in themselves a need for healing from their sin and a relentless desire for union with God whom they love with their entire body, soul, and spirit.

While everyone, everywhere is encouraged to pray the Jesus Prayer, it is also very important to seek an experienced spiritual elder who can guide you in this journey that can be fraught with difficulty.

In this noisy, chaotic, and increasingly violent world, people everywhere want to be released from the abyss of degradation,  desolation, and darkness that surrounds them. Are you one of them? If so, remember...

God is near you. He loves you. Seek Him always. "Pray unceasingly" (1 Th. 5:17).
