Ailing Hearts, Love, and Confession (Homily)

The Lord exhorts us to forgive others without ignoring the reality of systemic abuse in our lives. He invites us to share in His eternal love while calling us to deepen our love and respect for ourselves and one another.

These things do not always come easily for us because we ourselves have sinful and ailing hearts. This is why we are called to go to Confession; the sacrament during which we recite out loud, in the presence of a priest, the things we have done wrong and the things we have failed to do.

Through Confession, we receive the divine forgiveness of Christ and the sanctification of the Holy Spirit.
