Become a Servant to All (Homily)

On this Sunday of Great Lent, we hear about three figures - the Apostle James, the Apostle John, and St. Mary of Egypt - who, in one way or another - sought the rewards of this world. But each of them was reminded that the true reward in this life and the next is serving God and others. As Jesus put it, "... whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For the Son of man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:32-45).
