Faith and Healing (Homily)

We cry to heaven when we experience pain. But then we must seek healing, deepen our faith, and do our part to help others, too. On the commemoration of St. Panteleimon (July 27), who was a great healer and martyr (ca. 305), we reflect on the idea that faith is the simple idea that 'I have heard', 'I have seen', 'I have known', and 'I have believed'. We also reflect on what it means to receive true healing from the one, true God.
This is important because the figures in both the Epistle and the Gospel from today were called into the new awareness that Jesus is different. He is not a prophet or a temple priest. He is God, the second person of the Trinity who came in the flesh and told us to watch for the Holy Spirit who is in our midst.
Everything we need, we have already been given. Seek stillness before the Lord!
