Hearing, Eating, and Healing (Homily)

Life is messy and it can often be difficult. But on this Sunday, we are reminded yet again, that Jesus gives us everything we need to be healed and satiated. For example, the 5,000 who came to see Him and hear Him grew tired and hungry, so Jesus miraculously provided them enough bread and fish. Then, He sent them away with so much more.
His word settled deep in their hearts, and, in them, a desire grew to know the will of God and serve others in love. This is exemplified in Salome, who was faithful, a devoted disciple, myrrhbearer, and healer. This is also exemplified in the experience of Peter, James, and John during the Transfiguration, which we celebrate in only a few days.
