Holy Spirit Mondays: Inspired by What is Revealed!

Each week I send a short reflection to help you deepen your relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Read:

"At that time, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Symeon, and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

"And inspired by the Spirit he came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, 'Lord, now let your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel'" (Luke 2:25-32).

Ponder:

Today is the Feast of the Presentation and you may be asking: what made Symeon so special? Why did God pick him to reveal to the world that Jesus is the Messiah? Is the Holy Spirit on and in me? How do I hear what the Holy Spirit is revealing to me? How do I become inspired?

These are all important questions. Ones that all of us need to ponder each day of our lives. To help you think through this, though, it's important to remember that most vocations have something to do with everyday life. Miracles work the same too.

Think about it like this. There are hundreds of little things that we're called to do where we are and who we're with. So, don't ever discount the simple acts of love, mercy, forgiveness, and giftedness in and around the people you know or don't know.

At the same time, there's also those bigger things ... those Holy Spirit things ... that we may be expected to be and to do. We can't shy away from them. Well, we can, for a while, but then we wake up one day and realize that we need the indwelling and inspiration of the Holy Spirit to carry out the bigger tasks that not only impact our smaller circle of relationships ... but the entire community and even the world!

I believe in you! You can do it!

Pray:

"Most Holy Spirit, save me from myself and sanctify me."
