I Spoke to the Moon Once

I spoke to the moon once and
All I heard was the light of the night.
I spoke to the sun too and
All I heard was the heat of the day.
I spoke to the sky and
All I heard was the wisps of the clouds.
I spoke to a tree and
All I heard was the creaking of branches.
I spoke to the rain and
All I heard was the patter of droplets.
I spoke to the ocean and
All I heard was the rolling of waves.
Then, I got to thinking ...
These things that I saw and that
I heard ... gave me peace ...
A certain kind of peace
A peace of place
A peace of the moment
A peace of mind ...
Away from the world
Apart from concerns
Absent from cares
They gave me a deep, satisfying breath.
The kind that settles you down and
Improves your perspective.
But it wasn't enough.
Not nearly enough.
And that's when I knew
I wanted more.
I wanted to seek the source of nature's
Not-so-silent silences
I decided I needed to
Speak to silence itself.
The silence that is empty of the world's
Sight
Sound
Smell
Taste and
Touch.
The silence that is filled with the kind of
Depth and
Breadth that
Stretches for eternity
Teeming with Creativity ...
Truth, Goodness, and
Beauty
Filled with Love ...
Agape and
Eros, too
Imbued with the Divine ...
Hope, Healing, Mercy, and
Gladness.
