Reflecting on the Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus, Fr. Thomas reminds us of the centrality of repentance and sacrifice in the Christian life. For we must not be like the Rich Man, who failed to repent; nor may we be like those Israelites who worshiped themselves and their own desires through the forging of an idolatrous Golden Calf. Rather, as Christians we must "take on the sufferings of this life and tie it to the crucifying sufferings of our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ."
