Each week I send a short reflection to help you deepen your relationship with the Holy Spirit. If you have a question or a prayer request, please reach out here.
Read:
"By the Holy Spirit all creation is renewed and thus returns to its first state" (Matins, Antiphon 2, 7 Dec 25).
Ponder:
How much do you reflect on the past and present? Do you wish things were different? Does that make you feel regret? How often? Daily? Weekly?
Think about it. If you are like most people, you live with a certain kind of hope and seek joy when and where you can. But you also have these negative feelings that pop up, even at times when you don't expect them. Of course, at one level, that's just the ways things can go in life. At another level, that's just what happens when the evil one is nearby.
The good news, though, is that you are not alone; not only because everyone else goes through this too, but also because God is looking out for you. You see, The Holy Spirit renews everyone and everything. You may not automatically know or believe this. But truly, it is a gift from God freely given. And you can choose to participate in it.
Through prayer, Confession, humility, and a desire for new awareness ... you will find that the Holy Spirit is in and near you ... waiting for you ... offering you renewed mercy, peace, love, and joy ... returning you to your true self ... to the time when you were new in the world ... as a child of God ... living more purely in the Holy Spirit.
Pray:
"Most Holy Spirit, save me from myself and sanctify me."
